The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s National Student Business Plan Competition, an Australia-wide
challenge promoting creative entrepreneurship among students preparing for a career in
community pharmacy, has this announced the 2014 finalists.
Three teams, from a total of 18 entries, have successfully progressed through the business plan,
quarter-final and semi-final rounds and have been announced as the 2014 National Student
Business Plan Competition finalists.
The teams are: Primelink Pharmacy from University of Canberra/Charles Sturt University,
Pharmcare Pharmacy from La Trobe University, and Complete Pharmacy Townsville from
Queensland University of Technology.
The teams produced business plans, answered online assessments, completed several essay
questions and participated in an investor pitch as part of the competition, in order to be
considered the top 3 teams for this year.
This year the judging panel have also awarded two teams highly commended prizes following their
outstanding efforts throughout the competition. One person team, Rural Foundation Pharmacy
from the University of New England and Your Pharmacy Your health from La Trobe University,
will also be in attendance at the PBN and showcased to the delegates as innovative pharmacists of
the future.
The 3 finalists will now present their investor pitch ‘live’ at the Pharmacy Business Network in
Melbourne, on Saturday 13 September, with the winners announced at the Gala Dinner that
evening. The competition will provide $12,000 in cash prizes to the finalists in addition to
registration, flights and accommodation to attend the Pharmacy Business Network.
The competition, which commenced in 2006, was designed to encourage innovation amongst
pharmacy students by asking them to create competitive business plans using their ideas, talents
and creative business concepts. The competition is an initiative of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia
and is sponsored by Blackmores (principal sponsor), Gold Cross Products and Services and
