The number of clinical interventions conducted by community pharmacists and recorded through GuildCare software in the month of September almost doubled the number from August. Meanwhile, the number in August was almost triple that of July.

A clinical intervention is a professional activity by a pharmacist directed towards improving Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) and resulting in a recommendation for a change in the patient’s medication therapy, means of administration or medication-taking behavior.

Patient safety is expected to improve through the use of a systemised approach that is underpinned by QUM principles to reduce adverse events and medication error, and maximise health outcomes for consumers.
