The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (NSW Branch) is pleased to participate in a new campaign in
the fight against chronic pain.
Guild NSW Branch President, Paul Sinclair, said: “Community pharmacists have an important
role to play in supporting people living with chronic pain, and we are keen to assist in spreading
the pain management message.”
Around 1.7 million repeat script folders will be distributed to NSW pharmacies, promoting the
new Pain Management Network website which offers practical advice and resources to manage
pain and prevent its escalation.
The Guild is very pleased to be working with the NSW Government, and Minister for Health
Jillian Skinner MP, as well as the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) Pain Management
Network.
“With chronic pain affecting one in five Australians, improving the management of chronic pain
is a key priority for the NSW Government and for community pharmacy,” Mr Sinclair said.
1700 pharmacies across NSW will this week receive repeat prescription folders branded with the
Pain Management Network website. These 1.7 million folders provide a unique opportunity to
send the pain management message into homes across NSW.”
Pharmacists can also use the website to access a toolkit including assessment and management
tools, factsheets for patients and information of NSW Pain Clinics.”
National Pain Week (July 21st
– 27th) is an opportune time to promote the evidence for effective
management of pain through the Pain Management Network website.
