Dear
Members,
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
As we draw
close to the end of another year, we can’t help but be grateful for the
bountiful blessings of 2012.
Looking back,
we want to thank the Ministry of Health, the Pharmaceutical Division, the Allied
Professional Bodies and many other agencies for the continual support and
encouragement given. It has been a significant year with highlights including
the National Medicines Policy Full Term Review Workshop, the FAPA Congress in
Bali 2012, the AGM, Conference and Dinner, Annual Scientific Meeting on
Antimicrobial Resistance, Pharmacists’ Roles in Health Transformation Forum, MPS
Pharmacy Scientific Conference and “Pharmacy Night”, MPS Community Pharmacy
Chapter Pharmacists Forum, Dialogue between the Pharmaceutical Services Division
and Stakeholders, New Pharmacy Bill and Open Dialogue with the Minister of
Health. It has been a very hectic year for all.
We would like
to congratulate Mr Tan Yap, a 96-year old pharmacist who keeps active, agile,
alert and able to make a difference to the lives of the hearing impaired for
being recognized with the award “Pharmacist with Outstanding Contributions to
the Community”. At the same time, our Council Member Dr Azmi Hassali has been
selected as a Member of Young Scientist Network – Academy of Sciences Malaysia
(YSN-ASM 2012-2015). We are very proud of our pharmacists who have continually
made a difference to the healthcare scene.
Let us record
our highest salute to Mr Lam Kai Kun, the hardworking Executive Director and the
entire team at MPS Headquarters for their relentless efforts. At the same time,
our Council Members, branches Chairpersons and Committee Members, Association
Members, Chapters’ Chairpersons and Members and many others for their selfless
efforts. Special mention is made of the efforts of pharmacists both in the
private and public sector who in one way or another have been driving the move
to give the independent pharmacies a fair treatment in price differentials, and
Mr Wong Sie Sing, Chairman of Malaysian Association of Community Pharmacies
(MACP) for their proactive efforts in addressing many issues in the proposed New
Pharmacy Bill. The journey continues and we applaud every effort made in the
interest of the profession. There are many unseen heroes and heroines but we
appreciate you all.
Our future
lies in our hands. Let us work together to make 2013 another productive
year.
Thank you
again and have a blessed New Year.
Yours in
MPS
Yours sincerely.
Datuk Nancy
Ho
President
