To successfully implement the changes required to transition pharmacy from a

primarily dispensing role to one in which professional services arean increasing

focus requires the full involvement of pharmacists and their staff, policy makers,

educators and other health stakeholders.

Policy makers in Australia have already signalled their acceptance of the need for

change by including additionalprofessional services into the Fifth Community

Pharmacy Agreement.Now that these services have been included in the

Agreement, it is incumbent on us as a profession to adopt the changes required to

make sure they are effective for consumers and that pharmacists have a high

uptake rate of them.
