Guild questions APESMA’s underpayment claims

The Pharmacy Guild has responded to criticism from the Association of Professional Engineers,Scientists and Managers, Australia (APESMA) of alleged underpayments to employee pharmacists.

The attack came about a week after APESMA accused community pharmacies of “illegally” paying more than half of Australia’s supervised interns less than the award rates under the Pharmacy Industry Award 2010 (PIA). The Guild proved this claim was incorrect and was based on APESMA’s misunderstanding of the PIA. The Guild called on APESMA to apologise for the error, but no apology was issued.
