GPP, Good Pharmacy Practice

GPP, Good Pharmacy Practice

Korean Pharmaceutical Association(KPA) is considering introducing new system, ‘Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP)’.

GPP was considered being adopted to improve the quality of dispensing and effective management of medicine before enforcement of the medical system –Separation of dispensary from medical practice. But it was delayed.

KPA is preparing for applying established GPP to practical pharmacy.

‘GPP certificated pharmacy’ should take special education class and obtain the number of pharmacists required. And ‘GPP certificated pharmacy’ should take annual and sudden inspection. GPP certification is canceled if pharmacy refuses inspections or fails to pass them.

‘GPP’ system would stimulate fair competition and upgrade the quality of pharmacy.

KPA is planning to consult with government to institutionalize ‘GPP’ system after May, 2011.
