Message from the FIP President, Dr Michel Buchmann

Many of FIP member organisations have expressed their emotion further to the sad passing of our General Secretary and CEO, Ton Hoek on 28 July 2012.

I would like to thank you all on behalf of the FIP Executive Committee for your kind messages which have been shared with his family.

At its August meeting, the FIP ExCo decided that for the interim period (time needed to find and recruit the successor of Ton), the following distribution of roles and responsibilities is established:

Luc Besançon, currently Manager Professional and Scientific Affairs, will be during the interim period, Acting General Secretary for Professional, Scientific and External Affairs

Rachel van Kesteren, currently Executive Secretary, will be during the interim period, Assistant for Financial and Personnel Affairs

Carola van der Hoeff, currently Congress Director, will be during the interim period, Acting General Secretary for Administrative and Internal Affairs

As ExCo we recognize the exceptional efforts made by the staff members during these very demanding times.

BPP Investigation and Analysis of Ethics and Professional Autonomy in Pharmacy: Exploring your views
Dear FIP Colleague

Earlier this year, the Board of Pharmaceutical Practice launched a Working Group on Pharmacist Ethics and Professional Autonomy.

Professional autonomy in pharmacy practice is a growing concern in the profession worldwide, for many reasons and in many different ways.

We are exploring this issue on a global basis and need your perspective. We kindly invite you to complete the short questionnaire consisting of fewer than 10 closed-ended questions and available here.

It would be very helpful if you could spare a few minutes to fill out this survey before 1 October 2012. We thank you for your time and valuable input.

The BPP Working group on Ethics and Professional Autonomy.
