Chronic Disease Program Welcomed
(News released by PSA) The announcement by the Federal Government of an investment of $436 million to address how Australians with long-term illnesses are treated has been welcomed by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. The first long-term illness to be tackled under the program is diabetes, which affects about 2.2 million Australians. National President of the PSA, Warwick Plunkett, said the program would enable greater funding flexibility and coordination between health professionals to ensure better health outcomes for patients suffering from the disease.
