Enhancing Public Health Awareness Via A Community Service Event – Counseling Week 2007

The Pharmacy Department of National University Hospital of Malaysia (Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) will be organizing the 7th Counseling Week on the 18th June (Monday) to 22nd June 2007 (Friday), from 9am to 3pm at the Main Lobby, HUKM. This annual event aims to increase public awareness on some common diseases, the importance of primary & secondary prevention as well as the use of medications. Besides, it also aims to create better understanding of pharmacist’s role in providing pharmaceutical care through patient counseling.

There will be a poster exhibition on the common diseases and medication use. Free health screenings are also available for the public. Counselling will be given by the hospital’s pharmacists at the counselling booths. Dietitians from HUKM Dietetic Department as well as the Drug Control Authority (DCA) are also invited to participate in this event, to provide counselling on obesity and weight management, herbal/traditional supplements and adverse drug effects of unregistered products.
