[2014 WPPF/FIP Scholarship Winners]: Vanny You from Cambodia
—
This is my great honor to be chosen as a travel scholarship to joint FIP Congress in Bangkok, Thailand this year 2014. I would like to send a very profound thanks to WPPF and FIP Executive Committee members for giving me this opportunity to intergrade myself to the pharmaceutical profession internally.
I am so exited to be one of the FIP/WPPF travel grant scholars because I believe that this experience would provide me a very large knowledge globally and especially in the academic and community pharmacy as well as in the pharmaceutical profession as a whole.
After attending several meeting with Asian Young Pharmacist Group, I earned a lot of new idea of what other young pharmacists around Asia were trying to do to help promoting this profession. I do appreciate to meet other YPG in the FIP congress, which would be another chapter to upgrade my understanding.
I passionately enjoy the practice of two years in the pharmaceutical industry and distribution, in pharmaceutical academic in a very young age soon after I graduated. Graining enough experiences to be about to understand the pharmaceutical situation in my own country, I found out that the topic of the FIP World Congress 2014 this year: “Access to medicines and pharmacists today, better out comes tomorrow” is what Cambodia need as a developing country. Pharmacists always play an important and direct role to deliver all information about drugs to patients. If the services provided to community are not patient oriented but profit so the out comes would be the disaster.
With the strong ambitious of forming a Cambodian Young Pharmacist Group, this FIP World Congress would be a great opportunity for me to bring back the new scenario supporting this expectation. I will serve as a conduit of knowledge and information to our local pharmacist association for a better future health care provider.
