The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and Chifley Business School (CBS) have entered into an articulation pathway partnership for postgraduate programs. This will provide an opportunity for graduates of the PSA Graduate Diploma of Applied Pharmacy Practice or PSA Diploma of Management to enrol in Chifley Business School’s postgraduate programs.

These programs include the Master of Business Administration (MBA), MBA Technology Management, Master of Project Management, Graduate Diploma of Management, Graduate Certificate in Management, Graduate Certificate of Project Management, Graduate Certificate in Business Strategy and Graduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership.

National President of the PSA, Grant Kardachi, said the agreement opened major opportunities for pharmacists to expand their career opportunities.

“This is a very exciting development as the PSA Graduate Diploma and Chifley MBA postgraduate programs are both designed for working professionals,” Mr Kardachi said.

“The PSA Graduate Diploma provides pharmacists with flexible and tailored learning options so they can study at their own pace and complete units when it suits to advance their careers and pharmacy practice irrespective of what area of pharmacy they are practising in.

“The PSA Graduate Diploma is unique to the PSA and provides pharmacists with a nationally recognised qualification that supports you to undertake leadership and management roles. The Graduate Diploma includes core units that have a focus on the application of management skills in pharmacy practice including communication, leadership, innovation, management and research skills.”

Mr Kardachi said the agreement highlighted PSA’s commitment to the profession. “PSA continues to innovate and support the advancement of pharmacist practice by providing pharmacists with a wide range of professional development opportunities and our partnership with the Chifley Business School is another example of this commitment.”

This positive sentiment was echoed by the CEO of Chifley Business School, Mr Simon Christensen.

“Chifley is extremely excited by this new articulation pathway and the synergies between the CBS and PSA approach to education,” Mr Christensen said.

“Chifley strives to design high-quality and affordable postgraduate courses which are structured for busy working professionals. Chifley has more than 25 years’ experience in the higher education sector and with more than 13,000 graduates we are confident that all PSA members will see the Chifley MBA as a terrific educational and career opportunity.”

The transferability of an MBA to the pharmaceutical industry was at the core of his message.

“An MBA is such a versatile qualification. All businesses, whether public or private, for or not for profit, are fundamentally required to deal with the same issues – finance, marketing, people management, business strategy, decision making etc. The Chifley MBA will provide you with an in-depth understanding of all the key business functions. This will allow you to excel in whatever role you find yourself in.”
