PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS) is working with the Health Ministry to develop an accreditation guideline for pharmacies nationwide. MPS president Datuk Nancy Ho said the accreditation was to ensure no monopoly occurred over medicine and healthcare.

“It is hoped that all pharmacies will eventually be accredited to rule out a monopoly’ situation,” she said in an email to The Malay Mail.

“The accreditation aims to protect consumers in obtaining their medicines in a process that ensures their safety, with pharmacies adhering to standard guidelines of professionalism and ethical practice.

“The accreditation process will also ensure quality service and value for money. MPS would like to raise the bar of practice by pharmacists through accreditation.”
