Department of Health Commend Thirty-Two Internal Pharmaceutical Manufacturers For Updating to PIC/S

In order to ensure the safety of public drug usage, Department of Health advocated pharmaceutical manufacturers complying with international Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards to reduce the concern for generic drug from the public. Thirty-two modern pharmaceutical manufacturers conformed to international PIC/S GMP, and they were commended by Department of Health on Dec. 7.
At the time of the awards presentation, Hsiao Mei-ling, Deputy Minister of Department of Health, said that they expect all internal pharmaceutical manufacturers will comply with international GMP standard in 2014 and expand the domestic medicine to overseas markets. President Ma Ying-jeou also particularly congratulated to all prize winners with sincere felicitations and encouragement, and hoped the winners can keep the concept of continuous improvement and contribute to enhance the public’s health and welfare together.
PIC/S GMP is the guide to Good Manufacturing Practice for Medicinal Products that promulgated by the Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention and Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme (referred to as PIC/S), and it’s the most widely accepted international standard so far. And currently, the countries implement PIC/S or GMP which is equivalent to PIC/S including multi-country in European Union, USA, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, Argentina, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia and so on.
